About Libya

Libya is situated at the central north of Africa, between 90 50’E Longitude and 180’N-330 N latitude. In the north is the Mediterranean Sea coastline of about 1900 km in length. It is surrounded by Algeria and Tunisia to the west, Egypt to the east, Sudan to the southeast, Chad and Niger to the south. It has an area of about 1.778,500 sq.km. which makes it the fourth largest country in Africa and it is mostly desert.

Here the mountain scenery is as good as can be found everywhere in the entire Sahara, but an equal attraction is the rock art, dating from as long as 8000 BC. We continue our desert adventures by 4WD, exploring beautiful Wadi Matkendouch, an Open-air Museum of the most beautiful rock paintings in the whole Libyan Desert, where we find 10,000-year-old engravings of elephants and giraffes that once roamed here.
